Ginger Buns

These Ginger Buns are just like Cinnamon Buns simply with ginger. I just substituted ground cinnamon for ground ginger, and then added a bit of chopped stem ginger and some of the syrup to the icing topping.
They are truly delicious, I had the idea to make these for a while but my boyfriend was against it loving my cinnamon buns too much. In the end I went with it and I can say that I have converted him across. If you would like to make these too, the instructional video is to the right, and if you want to make cinnamon buns you need 2tbsp ground cinnamon (no ground ginger), leave out the stem ginger and substitute the stem ginger syrup for vanilla essence. Yummy!

Ingredients:
Dough:
  • 600g bread flour
  • 5 tsp fast action yeast
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 90g unsalted butter (softened)
  • 300ml milk
  • 1tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 large egg
Filling:
  • 45g melted butter
  • 175g light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ginger
  • 3 stem ginger balls
Topping:
  • 100g icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp stem ginger syrup
  • 2-3 tbsp water
