I am Charley

I love baking, I love drawing.

I am a biology teacher by profession and I have enjoyed drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I used to find very little time for my art with just the odd painting and drawing since leaving school. The story is similar for baking, having enjoyed it since I was little. In 2019 we stripped our kitchen (along with much of the rest of the house) and with a brand new reliable oven I began doing more baking.

Then March 2020, and lockdown begins. Confined to the house I find very few of my usual activities taking up my time.

Drawing:

In the past I have only ever really used graphite or acrylic paints for my artwork. For reasons I don’t know, I pick up some fairly basic pencils, in just 24 colours and take to drawing my cat, Nala. It’s a success and I move on to drawing my boyfriend’s sister’s dog, Kiki. I have the bug. I invest in some polychromos pencils and these give my drawings a new depth, and so it begins.

I hope that you enjoy looking through my website, I share many pictures of bakes that I have made and I am (slowly) working on adding instructional videos to accompany these.
